Curriculum

Life Skills

Grade 6: Students will learn study skills including, organization, note-taking, memory strategies, test-taking strategies and textbook reading comprehension during quarters one, two and three.  The fourth quarter will be taught by the guidance counselor.

Grade 7: During the first and second quarters, students will be introduced to various learning differences including, Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities.  The purpose is to help the students be aware that everyone learns differently and to have an understanding and empathy towards those who have these differences.  The third and fourth quarters are taught by the guidance counselor.

Grade 8: The guidance counselor will teach the first, second and third quarters.  During the fourth quarter, the students will focus on high school preparation.  The topics will include, high school curriculum, community service, SAT preparation, extra-curricular activities and the importance of the G.P.A.
